The Brian Stacey Memorial Trust was launched at the Princess Theatre In Melbourne in 1997 (on the first anniversary of the death of Brian Stacey)
The Brian Stacey Memorial Trust Fund serves to commemorate the life and work,
the contribution to musical life, of Australian Conductor Brian Stacey, who
was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident in October 1996.
The purpose of the Fund is to provide support to conductors in Australia who
wish to enhance their conducting skills, in particular by exploring performance
genres outside their normal field of work. The current $7,000 annual award from
the Trust enables both further study of the conducting profession and an opportunity
to broaden repertoire knowledge, thereby encouraging the recipient and enhancing
the quality and standard of music in Australia.
